A tribute to Frazetta's awesome fantasy art, mostly focusing on his big cats.

I personally have always loved Frazetta's art. It touches me in a primal and erotic place in my twisted imagination. I love the depictions of the brave hero and heroins and the eminent danger posed by some outlandish monster or villain!!! Wow, I can only dream of being in some sort of situation involving me, a lion cloth, a half naked hot chick, a spear, and a monster to slay.

some studying.

More stuff for the Monsters and Robots show.

So, I kinda want to do a series of paintings that show what I used to play as a child. Of course, the group pop art show for July, "mawnstirrs and rowboughts"
So, I did these lil character designs of myself as a kid. The one with the mowhawk is me now but in a kid body, the one with the big hair is how I actually looked like as a kid. I was way too skinny, with big ol' coke bottle glasses and big puffy hair, awesome huh? This was the visual development for the black and white piece that I posted earlier this week.

I used to play in the backyard, where the plants looked like monsters to me. I'd fight the plants, chop the all up, and get totally yelled at by my grama for ruining her garden, lol.

Sunday drawing goodness.

I was a bit distraught this weekend, although I do entertainment caricatures on saturdays, and that is a drawing, I sometimes feel sad when i don't draw in my sketchbook enough. I hang out at my parents house on the weekends. And I just sit around in the evening with them, and watch movies. As we do so, I sketch in my book, or paint stuff in photoshop on my laptop. This weekend I worked at a prom. and as always I arrive at the event about an hour or two early, so i can set up my easel with calm, and maybe sketch some stuff until the contracted time starts. well, I didn't get to do that on saturday. Drawing Caricatures for entertainment at events is fun, but like i said, my life feels whole when i draw in my sketchbook. Sunday, I went to my big brotha's company picnic, and I didn't get to sketch there either, i was really zoned out. Dammit.
Sunday evening, i got to go pick up my paintings from alphacult.com the art gallery where my last art show was. When I got home, my parents were just popping in "Cloverfield" man, that got some juices flowing. So i sketched this out. Wish i coulda done more though. Let's see how productive this week goes.

Some more stuff for the Battle for OZ.

Happy new year everyone!!! It's a superstition in my family, that what ever you do the night of the new year, you will spend doing all year long. Hopefully that's true. I've been drawing all day today, and will probably keep at it for a few more hours.
I hope I DO spend this new year drawing, painting, maybe animating, and posting on this blog, and also participating in all the awesome forums!!!
